What was it like to be an MSP

Now that it’s over,, I can talk about it

No, am not talking about my MSP experience, am talking about the stage before that..

Honestly, I hesitated talking in public about personal stuff – because I didn’t want to talk about the events and sessions we made, I loose respect for people who call themselves community people then brag about doing stuff for names and titles –

I also believe that a real life story could really help others more than numbers and facts, and my intentions are to help Smile

So here comes the drama queen Smile with tongue out:

I had a harsh experience that left me unconfident and insecure, something about not being good enough for anything, I stopped trusting my judgment on anything and I stopped enjoying anything.

To be honest, I was in a stage where I really hated being me, and as some says, I always feel like I don’t deserve good things or am not good enough for making good things either, I reached a point I thought about dropping college !.

When I was told that I was elected as an MSP, I wasn’t excited, I wasn’t excited about anything in my life back then, to be more honest, some other students really wanted it and made my life in college a living hell for that. So I went to my head department to drop that position, and that was where it all started, he laughed saying: “you are perfect for this position while they are not, you are a good speaker a good communicator and full of passion for work”, I didn’t care about all that or believe it, but had one goal back then, not to disappoint my head department who thought good things about me and trusted me for representing my University.

My biggest change was meeting the rest of the community members, watching their passion and big goals, every single unique personality, how hard they work, having purpose in life and enjoying it, was really inspiring to me, the fact that being good means working hard on one thing, doesn’t mean being perfect in it, and it will mean sucking in other things too Smile with tongue out.

I loved the fact that there are people in my life that are actually ready to help anytime, that I can count on without anything in return, I met people with same interests that I can talk with them on and on without stopping for hours, they taught me how to stop living in a shell and really live my life, how to count what achievements I made at the end of every day, how to be initiative in meeting more and more people that are the same.

I felt like I really need to work hard on myself, boundaries about nationality, gender and all other reasons why we say we can’t are actually in our head, when you start listing boundaries before listing goals, you should know that you are going the wrong way. Once you set your goals, boundaries will seem smaller.

One more thing I would love to talk about, unleash your creativity, for me it was all about stop thinking what people think of me. I reached a stage dreaming of people saying that am stupid behind me back. And it actually effected my relationship with them.

Now that it’s over, I can talk about it Smileyes, am clumsy and I am dropper (seriously I drop things even while am setting down !) I lose focus a lot –working on that – and sometimes I make really really stupid mistakes, but; no one knows you better than you, so why letting someone who doesn’t know all the facts to judge you. and I do believe now that real success is all about never quitting.

Trust me. Stop thinking what people think about you means doing everything your way, means having your special touch on stuff you do, means your personality is unique that you don’t even care that people judge based on theirs.

One last word: the other day I read this quote that enlightened me: “if you don’t enjoy hanging out with yourself how do you expect others to!”.

Too much personal info for someone who doesn’t talk about their personal life Smile with tongue out  being an MSP to me was all about finding myself and trusting it again. Hope you don’t need such an experience to do that

sorry for saying “I” too much Smile

Be well

SharePoint 2010 For Students – Baby Steps (3)

SharePoint 2010, the “Wheel” ..

In case My previous Post got your attention, my guess would be that you’ve done a small online search about SharePoint, I would also guess you have seen this picture somewhere and wondered what does it mean, that’s what we are going to talk about in this post.

This Image represents Services offered by SharePoint, in other words, what can SharePoint do for you.

Lets start with “Sites”; SharePoint makes websites, I guess its obvious for anybody ! you can call it as a massive website Engine, you don’t need to be a programmer or web designer to create a Site, you simply choose a template and simple clicks and BAAM, you have a site.

Unlike most of websites among the Internet, users not only are readers in SharePoint Sites, they can edit pages, add pictures, change content, and so many options will be mentioned in later posts.

As for the term “Communities” SharePoint helps you work with other people, it can offer a collaboration Environment for its users, company wide Wikipedia’s, team sites,  shared calendars, task lists, document can be edited by several people and so on.

This Huge product gives you a place to save your “Content”, Pictures, videos, Documents, as well as Sharing them with others.

So, when Contents keep growing to be large one, you certainly need some kind of “Search” engine to find what you want as fast as possible, SharePoint have that service for you too, it has a very complex Search Engine that you can set it’s policies by yourself, it can also search for people.

You will be no longer working with data in the old conventional ways, using Insights” you can present data in very un-manual advanced ways, presenting data in ways that actually makes sense. Visio diagrams, spread sheets, dashboards and business intelligence systems. making it easier to make decisions based on the results.

SharePoint has capabilities to be extended, again, “Composites” helps you do that, you don’t have to be a programmer, you can use tools and programs such as Visio and SharePoint designer to build business workflows without writing code for instance.

It seems like I’ve talked a lot, but this is nothing compared to the options and services offered by SharePoint, you can spend months learning one section of those if you decided to go deeper, you can choose your way and be professional at it Smile .

Hope this post helped you knowing more What SharePoint is, more is coming, stay tuned.

SharePoint 2010 For Students – Baby Steps (2)

Ever since I started learning SharePoint, People have been asking me that question, People who have spent years in IT sector and even people who have attended sessions about SharePoint !

so,, my guess would be that everyone is kinda have a hint about what SharePoint is, but they are looking for that one simple sentence that says it all, the one making them feel like they rapped their hand around it and say : “AAH,, So that’s What SharePoint is all about !!”.

well, I don’t wanna play the bad guy here , but .. there is no such sentence Smile simply because SharePoint is not one simple thing, you don’t just go and buy a SharePoint…

so what is it !! It’s a group of Products, a platform , a collection of different technologies, all gathered to help build collaboration solutions.

With SharePoint you can build sites within Minutes ,, with Simple Clicks,, it is designed with built in templates that makes anybody (even not an IT person) Use it,, “

The thing I love about SharePoint is it’s capabilities, the infinite options that SharePoint can offer to its Users , with it you can build your own Intranet, extranet, private social network, professional network, search engine, and public-facing website.

you can even create your own blog using SharePoint, wikies, or document sharing interfaces and  Teams sites ,, Can you imagine editing the same word document with a team colleague at the same time ?!!

every one of these is a huge world by itself, as far as I know, no one has the knowledge of all about SharePoint, but once you have an Idea about what it is you can choose what tools and technologies can help build your solution, and stop worrying about learning and having fun exploring every new about it.

SharePoint and Office are close Friends, so if you don’t have troubles dealing with office, you wont find hard time dealing with SharePoint as an end user.

I think I have to mention that SharePoint is  a server product, you don’t get it and install it on your PC or Laptop ,, it’s installed on  backend systems and shared along a network,

So,, if I have got your attention and you wanna learn more about it, SharePoint MVP Mohamed Saleh Has started  a great series of posts on his Blog called baby steps , pointed to beginners and students who wanna learn about it ,,,

And I have the honor of joining him in this series by cross blogging posts, which means this post is circle 2 in the series, you can find SharePoint 2010 For Students – Baby Steps (1)” on his blog,,

Sharepoint-2010 (4)

more details are coming in next posts,,, the Two blogs will Connect with you all the way towards running the SharePoint road ,,, stay tuned Smile

Finally .. !!!

Guess what .. I finally created a Blog !!.. well to be honest its been there for at least two months,,, and the idea for more than a year.. and now am kicking it off with the start of 2011

why so late ?! generally I love writing I just hate publishing… no offence I just don’t think my writings will interest anyone :) .. am that type of girls who focuses on the very small stuff,, like what a funny move my cat did today ,, or how I smiled watching the driver getting out his hand out the window enjoying the wind on my way to my Job, this morning ,,

My job,, Gosh I love BIT,, I had so much troubles having a passion in my Life until I met My SharePoint and BIT team, so I promised Myself something to count on,,, if I entered that door not smiling for a week on a row,, I would be loosing it and have to do some action.. its been five months now and that did not happen for even two days in a row Smile

why now ?! well,, I didn’t think I can give until I fill my smallest circle first, but I learned from My community and job that anyone can give,, you never know how a small piece of info can help someone,, another reason is having people to encourage me and push me into doing it,,

My community Smile Palestinian SharePoint User Group [PSUG] its all about giving ,, and what’s more precious than giving information’s !!

so as a fresh Graduate ,, I started learning SharePoint after graduating,, at first, it felt hard about where and how to start,, but I had mentors and leaders to show me the way “thank god for having them”,, and that’s what I decided to do,, as a community member, I’m going to try to simplify some things for beginners who have the passion to start,, more over am going to try writing technical ones in both Arabic & English to make it easier for all

My post might not have a solid line, as am learning based on projects to work on,, but again,, science has no boundaries or limits,, and you can learn from sides and from core,, as long as you learn !!!

see I told you I talk too much without focusing on one core Smile anyway I hope you like my posts and enjoy learning new stuff,, its my pleasure to have you as readers, that’s what will keep me going Smile

ooh and by the way,,, HaPpY NeW YeaR EveRyOne ….
